Real duets from real fiddle tunes

Hornpipes are short, lively, and reward a steady rhythm and a clean bow, which makes them some of the best ensemble music a young violinist can learn.

Large, easy-to-read music

Each part fills two facing pages, so there is never a page turn in the middle of a tune.

Melody and harmony

A Violin 1 melody part, a Violin 2 harmony part, and a full score for every tune.

First position

Both parts of every tune can be played in first position.

Warm-ups and chord charts

Warm-ups for the hornpipe lilt, scales, double stops, triplets, and dotted rhythms, plus chord charts for guitar, piano, or bass.

For teachers

Group class and recital ideas, a practice tracker, a glossary, and a certificate of achievement.

Binder ready

One-inch margins on both sides, so a three-hole punch or coil binding never cuts into the music.

Questions

How do I get the music after I pay?

The PDF is emailed to the address on your PayPal account within a minute or two. If you do not see it, check your spam or promotions folder, or email stradman100@gmail.com.

Can I print copies for my students?

Yes. You may print as many copies as you need for yourself, your family, your own students, and your own ensemble. Please do not share or upload the PDF file itself. Schools and teachers who want a wider license can email me.

Why do you ask where I live?

Wisconsin requires sales tax on digital purchases by Wisconsin residents. If you live in Wisconsin, the state and county sales tax is added at checkout. Buyers outside Wisconsin pay no sales tax.

Do I need a PayPal account?

No. You can pay with PayPal or with a debit or credit card, no PayPal account needed.

What level is this music?

Level 1 tunes suit students comfortable with eighth notes in first position. Level 3 tunes add running sixteenths and triplets. Both parts of every tune stay in first position.

How should I print it?

Print at "Actual size" (100%), not "Fit to page." Print double-sided so each part lands on facing pages in a binder. Heavier paper holds up best on a music stand.
